Alright, prepare yourself for a long rant. I just have something that's REALLY been bugging me, and I have to let it out somehow.
Design theft. Does it even exist? Is it okay to see a specific character design that you like, then use it for your own character? What if another artist's OC has the most adorable outfit, and you would like to see your character in it, so you decide to "borrow" the idea for the clothing design..? Do you think that's okay? Or how about hair, or color scheme-- Is it okay for you to take those and put them on your character?
In some cases, this all depends on just HOW MUCH "inspiration" you decide to draw from another artist's work. But as a general rule of thumb, no, it is not okay. Stealing is wrong, whether it be a little chocolate kiss out of a candy store, or an idea from another artist.
I've heard other artist's claim that although OCs are copyrighted, designs aren't. Does that mean it's okay to steal them? Heck, no! Not even! So why do they continue to do it? Because since there's no copyright on ideas then there's no "law" against it. So even though they know it's wrong, if they can get away with it they will steal designs/ideas.
Stealing anything is wrong, whether there be a law against it or not. Being inspired is one thing, but copying someone is a completely different issue. Don't get me wrong, some people are way too quick to accuse others of being copycats, but I just feel that "design theft" is getting to be way too common around here. It needs to end. People need to use their own imaginations-- Isn't that the point of making art?

To whom it may concern
Whoooaa my goodness, it's been ages since I've been here!
By "ages" I mean "years," but anyways, I have finally reset my password and decided to pop in to tell whoever it may concern that they can check out my newer artwork on my art blog. I am uncertain of whether or not I will officially return to deviantArt, but in the meantime I will be uploading my work to my blog.
Thank you!
Until We Meet Again...
Well... my week has been going just swell.
As much as I hate writing "vent journals" I can't help but feel the need to get this out. I'm trying to find some kind of closure on this. I'm not lookin' for sympathy, so don't feel like you need to read this and reply with some heartfelt comment (though that's always appreciated.)
A couple days ago one of my beloved dogs came down with some nasty stomach bug. She was in bad shape up until yesterday, then she was feeling much better. She's doing well, and we're expecting her to make a full recovery from whatever illness she has. Today, she's still not quite back to tip-top shape, but she's
Stayin' Alive
I've been meaning to write this journal entry for several days now, so I'm just gonna buckle down and do it.
...HI. I'm not dead! Surprise, surprise.
I apologize for my extreme absence. I can see that a lot of you wonderful people have uploaded some amazing artwork since I've been gone, and I've hardly commented on any of it. Know that it was never my intention to abandon any of y'all here, I've just been rather busy, dealing with some stuff that life's been throwing at me.
I'm going to try and comment on all that I've missed, and I'm going to try and upload some new artwork within the next week. I've just been so displeased with my own cr
Exciting Little Update!
Hey there folks! It's been ages since I've written a journal entry, so I thought I'd give y'all an update on what's going on in my usually-boring life. For once, I've got some fun stuff to write about!
Earlier this month my siblings and I were invited to an exclusive event held by Nintendo known as the "Wii U Experience." Certain members of Club Nintendo were selected to try out the latest console, the Wii U, before its release this holiday season. (If you don't wish to read about it, skip on down. This doesn't really have anything to do with my artwork.)
Though we weren't allowed to get any close-up pictures of the console (or the revoluti

i HATE stealers, it needs to stop -_- if you make a character thats only goal is to steal ideas to build up that character (i have no idea what I'm talking about either >W<) then don't make a character, no one said you need to have one to live, I'm going to stop making no sense now, good day to you
